When you speak to a receptionist you will be asked if you wish to be seen on the same day, in the future, or if the matter can be dealt with via a telephone consultation. You will be offered the first available appointment with a clinician.
The receptionist will take your name and will ask for brief details of the reason for the appointment. This is part of their job, and the questions are to help the clinician get an idea of your concern before you see them. It also give them the opportunity of reviewing any recent tests.
Your assistance in giving brief information when asked would be appreciated and could save both you and the clinician time in dealing with your health matter. If it is difficult for you to speak on the phone, or if you would like to explain in private, then please tell the receptionist who may be able to assist you by asking simple yes/no questions.
