Childhood Immunisations

There is very little we can protect our children from in life. Many childhood diseases however had thankfully almost been eradicated, due to the national immunisation schedule, recommended below. Sadly, in recent years, the lower uptake of whooping cough (pertussis) and measles immunisations in particular has led to us seeing these horrible illnesses again.

The new immunisation schedule protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio, Hib, pneumococcus, meningitis, rotavirus, measles, mumps and rubella.

We can immunise your child for you at the surgery, as per the schedule below and then you know they are protected. If you have any questions, this helpful website is worth a read! Otherwise feel free to discuss with one of our doctors or nurses.

Flu vaccine for children

Advised for 2-3 years olds unless they are egg allergic, have severe asthma, active wheezing at the time of vaccination or a weakened immune system. It contains gelatine, but most religious authorities say it may be given. This is actually a nasal spray, recommended for this age group for the first time this year.
